The history and commemoration of the Second World War air raids on Sheffield
We are holding an induction session for volunteers interested in becoming researchers for our project commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Sheffield Blitz
The event will take place at Sheffield Archives Department on Friday, September 23rd, from 1pm until 3pm.
Volunteers are required to research everything from personal accounts of the bombing raids to the story of the decoy sites doted around the Sheffield area which were designed to fool the Germans into bombing those targets rather than the city itself.
The volunteer research will play a key part in the work as well as being used in a new book chronicling the build up and aftermath of the raids.
Full training will be provided.
Sheffield Archives is situated at 52 Shoreham Street, Sheffield S1 4SP.
